Mother of Pearl Green Tea
a beautiful blend of strawberry, rose petals, candy pearls and green tea leaves
Mother of Pearl is a mild green tea with deep notes of sweet strawberry. Pink rose petals and candied pearls are sprinkled throughout this lovely, fragrant tea.
The deeply pink rose petals in our Mother of Pearl Green Tea are symbolic of gratitude and can convey appreciation, recognition and are a sweet way to say “thank you.” Rose petals, while lightly earthy and floral, have a naturally sweet flavor to them. Some people liken the flavor of rose petals to strawberries making them an appropriate accent in this delightful strawberry scented tea.
The overall cup of Mother of Pearl Green Tea is pleasing, fragrant and slightly sweet.
As a green tea, Mother of Pearl is low in caffeine.
Green teas are high in antioxidants and numerous health benefits.
Mother of Pearl Green Tea is excellent served either hot or iced and takes well to sugar, honey and other sweeteners. While a little sugar will bring out the strawberry essence, it is not necessary to enjoy this lovely tea. We do not recommend adding milk to this tea, but you may if you prefer to take milk in your tea. (Please note, that the proteins in milk, known as caseins, interfere with the catechins found in green tea and negate their full benefits.)
Traditional Hot Tea
Measure one heaping teaspoon of tea leaves per one cup water into a tea filter or into an infuser of your choice. Keep in mind, the infuser you choose must be large enough to allow the tea leaves to swell and unfurl. This allows the tea leaves to release their full flavor. Place filter into teapot or mug. Bring filtered or freshly drawn water to a boil then pour into teapot or mug. Infuse 3-5 minutes. Remove the filter and discard or remove infuser and discard tea leaves. Garnish as desired with sugar, honey, sweetener and/or lemon slices.
Measure six heaping teaspoons of tea leaves into a tea filter and place into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Bring 2 cups of filtered or freshly drawn water to a boil. Immediately pour boiled water over filter into teapot or heat-resistant pitcher. Infuse 3-5 minutes. Remove filter and sweeten tea with ½ cup sugar if desired. Add 2 cups of filtered or freshly drawn water to a serving pitcher. Pour in prepared tea and mix well. Add 2 cups ice and stir. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
Measure four teaspoons of tea leaves into a tea filter and place inside a clean glass jar or small pitcher. Position filter so that the tea leaves will be submerged and the top hangs over the side of the jar or pitcher so that leaves do not spill out once water is added. Pour four cups of filtered or freshly drawn water over the filter. Cover with lid or plastic wrap. Refrigerate 8-12 hours (or overnight).
*Cold-infused tea has higher levels of antioxidants, less tannins and less caffeine. To serve this tea hot, simply pour the cold-infused tea into a saucepan over medium heat and gently warm to desired temperature.
Due to the inclusion of green tea leaves, Mother of Pearl Green Tea may be infused a second time, although flavor will be lighter, using either traditional infusing methods or cold-infusion.
Store Mother of Pearl Green Tea in a cool, dry place away from bright light.
Mother of Pearl Green Tea will stay fresh for up to two years if stored properly.
